Review:

Police procedural dramas seem to be very popular in Mollywood these days, but instead of seeing senior officials solve cases like in the past, we are now able to watch the ground troops in action. Furthermore, hearing about the hardships and accomplishments made by lower-ranking police officers is fascinating. These shows provide a refreshing perspective by showcasing the dedication and grit of these unsung heroes. It not only highlights the challenges they face daily but also sheds light on their relentless pursuit of justice, making it even more engaging for the audience.

In Kannur Squad, Mammootty's character, ASI George, leads a unique four-person police investigation team. Police stations have considerable anger towards the squad's freedom, even though they go above and beyond to do their task. And it gets dismantled because of a corruption accusation against one of the team members. However, after a well-publicized murder and robbery at a politician's home in Kasargod, George is requested to rally the group to apprehend the gang. As the investigation progresses, the team faces numerous challenges and obstacles, testing their resilience and determination. The movie skillfully portrays the complexities of their personal lives, adding depth to their characters and creating a compelling narrative.

The investigation takes the team to northern India, where tensions in the political scene in Kerala grow, raising doubts about their image and competence. Despite the many challenges the team faces, George is adamant that he will only come home with the offenders. As the team delves deeper into the political landscape of Kerala, they uncover a web of corruption and power struggles that further intensify the already tense situation. George's unwavering determination to bring the offenders to justice serves as a beacon of hope amidst the growing doubts surrounding their image and competence.

Rajeev Ravi's Kuttavum Shikshayum is similar to the film, which was co-written by actor Rony David Raj and Muhammed Shafi. This is because the film features a scene where the team goes into the Tikri village in Uttar Pradesh in search of a lead that will lead them to the murderers. Roby Varghese Raj is the director of the film. This movie's unexpectedly quick second half is what makes it work in its favour.

The film's unexpected twist in the second half keeps the audience engaged and adds to its overall appeal. The director, Roby Varghese Raj, skillfully maintains a fast pace, ensuring that viewers remain on the edge of their seats throughout the movie.

The movie gains speed after the intermission, though overall it could have benefited from a tighter screenplay. The film effectively captures the intensity and urgency of the investigation, keeping viewers engaged. However, some critics argue that the screenplay could have been more cohesive and focused to enhance the overall impact of the movie. Despite this, Kuttavum Shikshayum manages to leave a lasting impression with its gripping narrative and strong performances.

The performances by the lead actors, especially the chemistry between the two, add depth and authenticity to the characters. Additionally, the film's cinematography and editing contribute to creating a tense and suspenseful atmosphere, further immersing the audience in the story. Overall, while there may be room for improvement in certain aspects, Kuttavum Shikshayum succeeds in delivering a compelling and memorable cinematic experience.

In addition to having some excellent "massy" dialogue and undeniable star power, Mammootty's co-stars Rony, Azeez Nedumangad, and Shabareesh Varma all have backstories that lend weight to their respective roles. Ankith Madhav, who joins the squad and leads them through northern India's challenging and unknown regions, performs a fantastic job as a UP constable. It is encouraging to see such youthful, new talent in our profession, along with Deepak Parambol. Deepak Parambol brings a refreshing energy to the film with his charismatic portrayal of a seasoned police officer. His chemistry with Mammootty and the rest of the cast adds depth and authenticity to their on-screen camaraderie. Together, these talented actors create a dynamic ensemble that captivates audiences throughout the movie.

On the downside, some gory moments could have been avoided. Muhammed Rahil’s cinematography is excellent, wonderfully capturing dramatic moments in small spaces and the grandeur of landscapes. For this alone, the film is worth catching in cinemas. Additionally, the film's fast-paced action sequences and thrilling plot keep viewers on the edge of their seats. The director's skilful storytelling and attention to detail further enhance the overall cinematic experience. Despite the few gory moments, Parambol's charismatic performance and exceptional cinematography make it a must-watch film for fans of the genre. Furthermore, the film's well-developed characters and their complex relationships add depth to the storyline, making it more than just a typical action film. The emotional journey of the protagonist, combined with the stunning visuals, creates a truly immersive experience that will leave audiences wanting more.
