Positive Points:
The first part of the movie is largely interesting. Here, the tempo is purposefully maintained sluggish. We are introduced to the Parthiban universe through the hyena scene and the subsequent family drama. The process is not hurried in the slightest. The goal was to neatly introduce the characters and the protagonist's setting. The battle scene in the cafe is the high point of the film. It is a visually stunning and action-packed sequence that captivates the audience with its intensity. The choreography and special effects are top-notch, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats. This pivotal moment showcases the protagonist's skills and determination, setting the stage for the thrilling events that unfold later in the movie.Because Vijay's vulnerability is so effectively shown, the action scenes in the first hour are quite satisfying. In addition to being a celebrity, Vijay is a skilled actor. Leo expertly displays Thalapathy Vijay's acting prowess. The first half's fight scenes are expertly choreographed, and Vijay's acting and skillfully written action sequences keep the action moving. The seamless integration of visual effects in the movie enhances the overall cinematic experience, immersing the audience in the thrilling world of the protagonist. As the story progresses, Vijay's character becomes more relatable, and his vulnerability adds depth to his performance, making the action scenes even more impactful. The combination of Leo's direction and Vijay's acting prowess elevates the first half of the movie, captivating viewers with its well-executed fight sequences and engaging storyline.
The halftime block does a good job of setting the stage for the second half. Leo features some really strong action scenes with well-chosen cinematography. Trisha does well in her position. The pre-climax and climax scenes in the film have a faster pace. Yes, the movie is part of the LCU, and fans of the franchise will enjoy a few bits of this. Finally, there's a little surprise. In addition, the movie also surprises viewers with a plot twist that adds an unexpected element to the story. This twist keeps audiences on the edge of their seats and leaves them eagerly anticipating the conclusion of the film. Overall, Leo and Vijay's collaboration in this movie proves to be a winning combination, delivering a thrilling and entertaining cinematic experience.
Negative Points:
The film's range is determined in the second part, which is usually crucial. However, the majority of movies these days suffer from the second-hour syndrome. Regretfully, Leo belongs to the same group. The writing style used in the flashback sections is actually rather unexpected. From someone who made amazing films, like Lokesh Kanagaraj, one wouldn't anticipate such drab writing. The flashback sections lack the same level of creativity and depth that Kanagaraj's previous films showcased. It is disappointing to see a filmmaker with such potential resort to uninteresting writing choices in Leo.After the intermission, the speed slows down once again, with no narrative development. However, a few scenes carry the action through until the start of the flashback section, which is where the movie loses its momentum. The poor writing detracts from Sanjay Dutt and Arjun's effect. As said, the writing department must take responsibility for this. The lack of engaging writing in Leo is a missed opportunity for Sanjay Dutt and Arjun to truly shine in their roles. The film's potential is overshadowed by the disappointing choices made by the writing department, ultimately hindering the impact of the actors' performances. It is unfortunate to witness such a talented filmmaker succumb to uninteresting storytelling in this particular film.
Priya Anand and other actors play supporting roles in the film. In the second half, a well-known actress performs a crucial role that is ill-designed. The supposed poignant moments are flat. The Naa Ready song is a huge letdown, but the Telugu dubbing is good. The battle scene in the cafe is accompanied by a Tamil song. For the Telugu version, it would have been preferable if the creators had included some Telugu music. The small details, such as significant paper clippings and text etched on a picture frame, were written in Tamil. These little particulars also matter. These little particulars do also matter, as they contribute to the overall authenticity and immersion of the film. However, it would have been more inclusive and relatable for the Telugu audience if these small details were written in Telugu instead. This attention to detail can make a significant difference in how the audience connects with the story and characters.
Final decision:
Overall, Thalapathy Vijay's performance is a big factor in Leo's success as action entertainment. Despite moving slowly in the first half, the movie is interesting until the second half begins. The main flaws are the flashback sections and the shoddy character design. There are some moments that fans of the series will always treasure, and Leo is a part of the LCU. Leo lacks some of Lokesh Kanagaraj's enchantment, and Vijay's popularity and the LCU factor will determine how well the movie does at the box office. Leo's success as action entertainment can also be attributed to its strong supporting cast and gripping storyline. The chemistry between Thalapathy Vijay and the other actors adds depth to the film, keeping the audience engaged throughout. However, the movie could have benefited from tighter editing and a more coherent narrative structure. Nevertheless, Leo's overall appeal lies in its high-octane action sequences and Vijay's charismatic screen presence, which are sure to draw crowds to the theatres
